About the Ranch

Amber Elk Ranch began with owner Bob Northrup’s vision of adding a bit of wildlife to the backyard. What started out as a small herd of eight quickly grew into a much bigger dream of a full ranch. Over the years, that small beginning expanded into a herd of several hundred elk and a destination where visitors can experience ranch life up close.

Today, the ranch raises elk for breeding, velvet antler products, quality meats, and trophy bulls, while also welcoming guests for educational tours and hands-on experiences.

Guided Elk Wagon Tours

Climb aboard our open wagon and head out through 130 acres of working pasture for an up close elk experience you won’t forget. Each ride lasts about 50 minutes and typically departs on the hour or half hour, depending on guest arrival.

As the herd moves naturally through the fields, every tour is a little different shaped by the season, the weather, and the rhythm of ranch life. Some days the elk wander near the wagon, other days they graze peacefully as you roll by.

When you arrive, please check in at the gift shop to purchase tickets and find out when the next tour is heading out.
